Ladies Golf Lessons

At TFA (Tommy Fleetwood Academy) Sophie, runs periodic tasters for any ladies thinking of giving golf a try, contact her to arrange a free golf taster. You can do this for small groups, depending on her availability / schedule

This will be an informal introduction to golf where you can get a taste of what’s involved if you’re thinking of taking golf up. Absolutely no obligation.

Group lessons

Sophie runs ladies group lessons. In these lessons, you will be with a group of no more than 5 -8 other ladies. The classes will cover golfing themes. As your golf game develops you will also get individual advice on your own game. These groups are relaxed and generally run in 6-week courses, on a weekly basis. Times and lesson frequency can be flexible.

The ladies courses of lessons run in 3 categories;

  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Golfer

Private lessons

One to one tuition in half-hour or hour-long lessons Rapid progress for new golfers. Purposeful improvement for experienced golfers, supported by Trackman data, where relevant

Individually tailored courses of lessons and advice for experienced golfers. Including emailed video clips of your swing and analysis with comparison a suitable lady professional golfer.

During the last decade or so, Sophie has introduced hundreds of brand new lady golfers to the game, in and around the Southport area. Several dozen have gone onto to develop their golf games to the degree, that they felt able to join one of the local private clubs. A realistic time scale for this journey is about 18 months to 2 years. However, it will require commitment, coaching  and above all practice.

Ladies who started golf with Sophie have gone on to join, Hesketh, Hurleston Hall, Formby Hall, S and A, Old Links and Formby Ladies golf clubs.

Group Lesson Tier's

Beginners

In the Beginners 3 sets of 6 week lessons, you will learn golf fundamentals:

  • Aim, grip set up and stance
  • How to power your swing
  • How to control the clubface
  • Introduction to rules and etiquette, staying safe on the course
  • Golf terminology
  • What is a golf handicap and how it helps you.
  • Drills and checkpoints
  • Striking irons from the floor
  • Introducing suction to woods
  • Introduction to chipping
  • Introduction to putting
  • Escape from the bunker
  • Introduction to playing on the course

Intermediate

Ladies Intermediate, 3 sets of 6 weeks:

  • Review of fundamentals
  • Video analysis with e mailed video and commentary
  • Developing power, adding distance
  • How to practice effectively, self testing
  • Chipping, which club for which shot?
  • Tee shots with woods, accuracy. Hit the fairway
  • Iron striking from the floor continued
  • Chipping inc chipping over obstacles
  • Introduction to fairway woods from the floor
  • Putting review, practice drills and challenges
  • Make your practice like playing. Correct routine
  • Play on the course, develop scoring
  • Short game clinic
  • Bunkers continued

Advanced

Golfer 2 sets of 6 weeks.

  • Assessment of strengths and weaknesses
  • Individual swing analysis, e mailed practice programme, full swing
  • Full swing technique
  • Pitching, distance control, club selection
  • Irons. Ball striking. Create your own distance chart
  • Teeing off. Driver and 3 wood. Hit the fairway!
  • Short game video analysis. Chipping challenge
  • Review progress. Productive practice regimes
  • Putting technique, green reading. Putting challenge with trophy!
  • Fairway bunkers technique green side bunker technique and challenge!
  • Fairway woods, rescue woods. Hit the fairway challenge.
  • 9 hole challenge with handicaps. Trophy. Presentation.
